It appears Nintendo is getting much better at keeping secrets. Pretty much out of nowhere, the Japanese gaming giant has just revealed their latest handheld device— New 2DS XL. It launches this July 28th in North America and will have an approachable price tag of $149.00
According to Nintendo, the New 2DS XL was designed to cater to people who aren’t entirely convinced by the Nintendo 2DS or New Nintendo 3DS XL systems. This new device will lack stereoscopic 3D like the 2DS but boast the same screen size and power of the New 3DS XL.
New 2DS XL will launch in both black/turquoise colors and feature the same built-in NFC technology the New 3DS XL uses to read Amiibo figures and cards. It looks like those who thought Nintendo would slowly kill off their handheld branch with the introduction of the Nintendo Switch have nothing to fear.
