Naughty Dog just dropped some new gameplay footage from Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Rather than relying strictly on in-game cinematics, like they did at E3, they decided to focus on the inherently cinematic nature of the game in action.
Like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, its standalone expansion is quite a looker. The shift away from playing as Nathan Drake has allowed for Naughty Dog to mess around with some familiar combat mechanics. The fact that Nadine Ross is present throughout Chloe’s journey allows for the introduction of tag-team combat dynamics that greatly expand upon the prison fight sequence from A Thief’s End.
Beyond the explosive gunplay, it appears that Chloe Frazer whips, and zips, and flips around combat areas in a manner that would impress even Drake himself. Nadine isn’t always locked to Chloe’s hip, either. She’s sometimes way off in the distance beating the crap out of several dudes, which buys Chloe the time to dispatch with the rest.
The gameplay ends with a cutscene that gives us our best look yet at the villain of The Lost Legacy. As is to be expected in an Uncharted game, he’s after the same thing that Chloe and Nadine are; the Tusk of Ganesh. He’s impressed with their progress thus far but sees no reason they should be allowed to continue. Naturally, Chloe disagrees.
The trailer ends with Chloe at gunpoint. This is probably the last substantial look we’ll get for The Lost Legacy before it releases August 22. It’ll be roughly two-thirds the length of A Thief’s End, but it will only cost $40 bucks, so it seems like a fair ask. You can pre-order the game now.
