Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Cardfight Vanguard. Trading card games have seen great success in the past. As has Harmonix, creators of Rock Band and Dance Central. But who made it bigger than either of them? Hasbro! The company that controls Tonka, Playskool, Wizards of the Coast, and Milton Bradley.
So, you can understand how exciting it is to hear that Hasbro and Harmonix have created a brand new trading card game, mobile game, and board game all in one!
The game, of course, comes with collectible cards. But it also has a gameboard that can be used to register the cards into your phone via a mobile app. The app that will provide you with music to be used with the game as well as keep track of the score.
Each card will represent a section of some of the most popular songs of today spanning over six genres! Bruno Mars, The ChainSmokers, and Meghan Trainor are just three of the artists that will appear in this game.
The goal of the game is to score the most points. You do so by switching out lower point cards with your opponent, gaining points and mixing up the song.
DropMix will be available this September for around $100, with booster packs ranging from $5 to $15. For more info in this game, SXSW will have an update on March 12.
