Raiders of the Broken Planet Dev Confirms Switch Version Not Happening

It was announced that Raiders of the Broken Planet is heading to Xbox One X, Microsoft’s just-revealed powerful console, later this year. This leaves the Nintendo Switch as the only one that won’t have access to the upcoming game: it is also set to release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

According to Spain-based developer MercurySteam, there are currently no plans to bring the game to the hybrid console. GameSpot spoke with game director Enric Alvarez today at E3 and was told that the reason why a Switch version isn’t happening is that they didn’t take the console into account from the beginning.

It implies that if the studio had considered the Switch when it started developing Raiders of the Broken Planet, then a version for the brand-new console could have been possible. Of course, anything can happen within the next few years. If the game turns out to be a hit and the Switch version demand is high, then it’s not impossible for the studio to reconsider.

Raiders of the Broken Planet arrives later this year, though no exact release date has been revealed yet. The game is currently available at E3 for a hands-on experience. It can be played on the $500 Xbox One X console at the Microsoft booth and on PC at the Nvidia booth. The Xbox One X version will have 4K support and HDR support.
