A new trailer for the upcoming Fire Emblem Warriors has been unveiled at the Nintendo E3 event. The trailer focuses on the game story with no in-game footage of the action-packed gameplay, much like the recently revealed trailer for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Check it out below.
In the video, we see the twin protagonists, Lian and Zion, whose small kingdom gets attacked by an evil dragon. The attack brings forth “chaos and destruction” to their land. And apparently, the assault also causes the death of their mother: the trailer shows her getting trapped and presumably crushed by huge rocks.
The twins then set out to take down the evil dragon to protect their people. This is where the other heroes from previous Fire Emblem titles come in. The golden-haired siblings are joined by characters such as Marth (Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light), Chrom (Awakening), and Xander (Fates) on their journey to rid the land of evil.
Warriors is a hack-and-slash game featuring characters from the Fire Emblem series combined with the gameplay from the Dynasty Warriors series. Though the game adopts the latter’s gameplay, it includes several familiar Fire Emblem gameplay elements like the weapon triangle system and the support system. Characters-wise, it won’t feature all the main protagonists from all previous Fire Emblem titles because that would have made the roster full of sword users.
Warriors is the result of a partnership between Nintendo and Koei Tecmo. The two companies previously collaborated to produce Hyrule Warriors for Nintendo Wii U and 3DS. Warriors is set to arrive on Switch and New 3DS this fall. Omega Force and Team Ninja served as developers, along with Fire Emblem main developer Intelligent Systems.
In other Nintendo E3 news, it looks like a new Pokemon title won’t be arriving on Switch anytime soon. Bummer. But the good news is Metroid Prime 4 is on the way.
