Since adopting the Direct format, Nintendo has developed a quirky, fun, and sometimes unorthodox method of issuing announcements for its products. Love it or hate it; weird Nintendo is here to stay, and the company aims to host its next Nintendo Direct on May 17.
This time around, the focus will be on Nintendo’s upcoming fighting game, Arms. Beyond that, there’s little that we really know about what else the company intends to showcase. There have been some smaller reveals centered around new characters and weapon variety in the game.
Nintendo Directs are usually reserved for announcements with a little more meat on the bones, however. Given that, we can expect something more substantial than more new characters to be revealed.
In addition to whatever Nintendo has to say about Arms, a new trailer for Splatoon 2 is scheduled to drop. The game is next up on the company’s slate and is scheduled to release July 21.
The Nintendo Direct will be streamed live starting at 6 pm ET. If you’re planning on checking it out, you can head over to Nintendo’s website to see what the company has in store.
Keep in mind that E3 is just around the corner, and Nintendo is likely to hold any major reveals until the expo nears. For now, Arms will probably be the primary focus of the broadcast. The game is scheduled to release on June 16.
