New Gwent Tournament Lets Players Duel Pros for the Big Bucks

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is an upcoming free-to-play collectible card game for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It was derived from a card game in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The cross-platform, turn-based card game plays much like any other TCG, as there will be different factions, playstyles and unique abilities.  In the game, the winning player will win ores, scraps or cards.

But, developers are currently offering average players the chance to battle the pros for a chance to win $100,000. Registration began today and will end March 22. The tournament of 256 players (from two different time zones) will be on April 8th.

The sixteen best players (from the two time zones) will advance, before the group is knocked down to two players (from each zone).

These four players in total will face-off against four pro-gamers for their chance to win big. The main event prize pool is $100,000. First place wins $60,000, second wins $20,000, and third and fourth win $10,000. This gives the amateurs a chance to not let any of the pros place.

Famous faces include pro-streamer “Trump”, CCG star “Lifecoach”, Evil Geniuses’s “ppd”, and CompLexity Gaming’s “Noxious”.
