BioWare Evaluating Character Creator and Animation Fixes for Mass Effect: Andromeda

Mass Effect: Andromeda has been getting raked over the coals over the past week regarding a number of issues, both major and minor. The biggest sticking points for players seem to be the underwhelming character creator and animation issues that users had a field day with in the days leading up to the game’s launch.

BioWare is aware of the criticisms—some warranted, and others… not so much—and is apparently taking steps to address them. Last night on Twitter (side note: that’s a great title for a John Oliver-esque news show), Andromeda’s Lead Designer, Ian S. Frazier, answered players’ questions about the issues.

Several users were curious about the possibility of additional customization features for the character creator. In some respects, if we’re being frank, the creator is a step back for the franchise. Though, as my efforts show in the pictures above, results can vary. Frazier responded to the questions by saying “It’s a possibility, yes. We’re looking at many different options for how to improve on the character creator right now.”

Frazier then addressed concerns about the super gifable animation issues, “We’re looking at patching lots of issues and want to strongly support the game moving forward. I can’t say more just yet.”

Andromeda is currently being review-bombed on Metacritic, where users are submitting abysmally low scores, presumably in order to protest the issues in the game. Though, the ratings should be taken with a grain of salt. This isn’t the first time players have resorted to such tactics to make a point, and it will hardly be the last.
