Are you looking for the best left-handed gaming mouse for your PC? It can be very difficult for left-handed hardcore gamers to find mice that actually fit their left hand well. The reason for this is that most such mice are designed to be comfortable for the right hand. Examples of right-handed design are visible on the devices, such as the right mouse button arching down more steeply toward the right edge, a resting place and additional buttons provided on the left side of the mouse, and so on.

There are two choices as a left-handed gamer: either adapt to these gaming mice and practice a lot using your right hand so it fits the mouse, or – better yet – look for ambidextrous or left-handed mice. Some of the more popular brands have several variants on the same models, including some reversed mice especially for left-handed people. The latter is much more available today that it was just a few years ago, as gaming mouse designers now are more likely to take left-handed people into consideration.

Before you look for the best left-handed gaming mice, you should consider the following factors during your search for an ideal mouse.

How to find the best left-handed gaming mouse

Left handed gaming mouse

  • Type of build: There are two main mouse builds when it comes to their design: symmetrical and asymmetrical. The former category often includes very basic mice with the usual three buttons, but recently some gaming mouse developers created adaptable mice. You can change the location of buttons on these types of devices, simply by taking out a usually sliding part containing the side buttons, and placing it on the other side of the mouse. Asymmetrical mice are often made in two versions: right and left-handed variants, but not all companies care enough to make such reversed versions of their mice.
  • Ambidextrous or left-handed: If you don’t have any spare mice and you expect others to use your computer often, then you should either consider buying an ambidextrous mouse so you don’t have to swap all the time, or you could buy your preferred left-handed one for yourself and some cheap right-handed for others in your household.
  • Connection: Wired or wireless. While wireless mice have come a long way in recent years, many gamers might prefer not having to deal with batteries and possible interferences with other wireless devices. The most recent wireless gaming mice feature very low (1 ms) latencies, almost the same as their wired counterparts, but the selection for left-handed wireless gaming mice is quite low.
  • Number of buttons: The main draw of gaming mice is having additional buttons right at the tip of your fingers. How many extra buttons you need are entirely up to your preferences and the genre of games you typically play. MMO players usually find more buttons useful, and there are mice that cater to them with button-pads on the side. On the contrary, most shooter players will only find 2-3 additional buttons useful.
  • DPI or dots per inch: Higher DPI values mean that the mouse will react more accurately to small movement, with much less dead zone. Most gaming mice are capable of using multiple DPI settings. Some even allow their users to change these settings to their preferred values instead of using factory specified steps.
  • Looks and style: If you care about how your gaming setup looks, there are many options to pimp it up. LEDs and other color-changing parts are often prevalent in high-end gaming mice. Cheaper ones usually come in multiple painted color choices, so you can still choose one that fits your style.
  • Size and shape: This is a very important part – always try out mice before you buy them. You should make sure whether it fits into your hand, and whether it is easy for you to use during longer gaming periods. Left-handed players should not use right-handed mice with their left hands because it can become uncomfortable after a while. You should also choose a mouse with the size appropriate for your hands, as you would not want a too large or too small mouse. This is important if your hands are larger or smaller than average.

Which left-handed gaming mouse is right for you?

Best left-handed gaming mouse

After you have read these important factors, and weighted in your own expectations, needs and budget for a left-handed gaming mouse, consider looking around on the internet and in local computer stores for the best available products. While most mice might seems very similar – after all, they have the sole basic purpose of interacting with an on-screen cursor – your choices will be limited as a gamer looking for the best left-handed gaming mouse.

If your budget is limited, or you are just looking for a simple ambidextrous 3-button mouse, then something like the JETech 2.4Ghz Wireless Mobile Optical Mouse might be a good choice. It is wireless with a long battery life – up to 12 months on a single AA battery. It even features adjustable DPI in three steps: 800, 1200 and 1600. An advantage of this mouse is its simplicity – just plug in the nano receiver into a USB port and it will work without any additional drivers or software.

If you are looking for the best of the best, look no further than the Razer Lancehead with its many different variants – including ambidextrous and left-handed builds, available in both wired and wireless versions. This mouse family is customizable with the Razer Synapse software, which, among many things, enables you to save configurations directly inside the mouse’s built-in memory.

There aren’t many left-handed mice for MMO games, but Razer also has this too. The Razer Naga Epic MMO mouse is available in a left-handed variant. A unique feature of this mouse is that they put the 12-button grid on the right side, making it easy to use for lefties.

If you are primarily a FPS player, then precision is much more important than the amount of extra buttons. Some players prefer pairing super low DPI with wide hand movements, others find extremely high DPI values important. The ambidextrous wireless Logitech Spectrum G900 can do anything between 200 and 12,000 DPI, and it can be used both in wired and wireless modes.

The BenQ Zowie FK-2 E-Sports Mouse is so ambidextrous that it provides two side-buttons on both sides, enabling both lefties and righties to utilize them. It is available in two sizes, intended for smaller and medium-sized hands, respectively. A great selling point of this device is its simplicity – it is the best left-handed gaming mouse for those who want to take “plug and play” literally.

The Razer DeathAdder Essential mouse is intended for MOBA and FPS players who need only a few extra buttons and extreme precision is the important part. Its DPI can go up to 16,000, and can handle 210 inches per second. The linked variant is left-handed with Chroma lighting support, which means users can adjust the light colors via the Razer Synapse software.

Now that we had a look at our top choices, let’s examine them more in-depth, hopefully giving you ideas about important properties of gaming mice. All of the following mice are among the top sellers on Amazon, so satisfaction and high quality are guaranteed. Don’t forget however, that it is best to actually test them in-person if possible, by visiting shops dealing with computer accessories.

As I mentioned in my previous article listing the best wireless mice for gaming on PC, the Razer Lancehead is the best left-handed gaming mouse when it comes to accuracy, thanks to its optical sensor which can handle up to 16,000 DPI. There are both ergonomic and ambidextrous variants available both in wired and wireless versions. They are built to last, with buttons that can each withstand up to 50 million clicks.

Because this is a Razer product, it comes with both of the iconic associated features – the Razer Synapse software letting you edit and store configurations, and the Chroma lighting, which enables you to personalize the mouse’s light colors. There is also a dedicated DPI switch button, which lets you change between several DPI settings, which can also be customized in the Synapse software. The mouse supports anything from 100 to 16,000 DPI.

Due to its ambidextrous design, the Razer Lancehead is a good choice if multiple people use the same hardware. And because it also features a built-in memory which can store settings, you can even take it on LANs and use Razer Synapse to retrieve your mouse settings on any PC.

The wireless variant can be a bit tricky to use – the signal strength is excellent, but you have to always keep the charging cradle plugged in, as it also acts as the receiver. This cradle is larger than the usual USB dongles bundled with wireless mice and it needs to be placed somewhere on your desk. Speaking of charging , a full one can last about 24 hours.

The Razer Lancehead is an excellent choice for FPS gamers who need highly customizable and adjustable DPI for various shooters or weapons. We recommend the wired version if you have little space on your desk due to the charger-receiver device’s size.

If you are a MMO gamer, then you will most likely need tons of buttons to use your hotbars. A mouse featuring lots of buttons is very useful in this case. It is really difficult for left-handed people to find MMO mice, because these feature a thumbpad on the thumb’s side, which is on the left for right-handed people. There are quite a few MMO-oriented mice for righties, but left-handed players were out of luck if not for the Razer Naga Epic MMO mouse’s left-handed variant. I reviewed the wireless version in my previous article, this version is essentially the same, but is only available in wired.

The left-handed Naga Epic is a mirrored version of the original, with exactly the same specifications. There are a total of 19 reprogrammable buttons, from which 12 are directly under your thumbs. The Razer Synapse software bundled with the mouse can be used to store multiple profiles for different characters or games.

The mouse is blazing fast – response time over USB can be either 500 or 1000, and DPI can be adjusted between 100 and 8200. It is also quite comfortable to use even in longer gaming sessions found commonly in the MMO genre – the flatter, less curved back is a comfortable resting position for your hand.

Making the mouse personalized is a strong suit of this one. Razer’s iconic Chroma lighting supporting 16.8 million colors is an integral part of this mouse, so you can show off any color combination on its sides. Additionally, the MMO configurator app bundled with it allows you to change settings on the fly without even leaving your game, by providing a toggleable overlay on top of it.

You can see that the Razer Naga Epic is an excellent mouse for MMO players, so basically this is the only viable choice for left-handed gamers in this category. Due to the thumb-pad on the side, this mouse is very difficult to use for right-handed people, so if you expect others to use your gaming setup often, consider buying some kind of cheaper ambidextrous or right-handed mouse for them.

It is all about accuracy, precision and speed in the world of shooters, where every millisecond counts to outplay your enemies. The Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum is one of the best wireless ambidextrous gaming mice, and it comes with support for mixed mode. This means you can use it as a wireless mouse for 30 hours, then plug it into a USB port with a wire to recharge it while you continue playing.

This mouse supports anything from 200 to 12,000 DPI, and the polling rate can be set to 125, 250, 500 or 1000. The bundled Logitech Gaming Software can be used to store 5 different profiles. These can each contain up to five customizable DPI sensitivity levels, bindings for 9 programmable buttons and adjustments to the color scheme. Speaking of which, the RGB lighting supports 16.8 million colors just as Razer’s Chroma does. There is also built-in memory for your profiles, and a button to change between them, so if you take this mouse with you on LANs, this saves you from having to install the software.

Even some physical customization is possible – the additional thumb buttons can be removed from either side, so you can go from 5 to 9 buttons according to your preferences. Because this mouse is intended for both left- and right-handed players, this one can be an ideal choice if you do not want to have two different mice if others also often use your PC. You can even reprogram the DPI up/down buttons too!

If all you want is a simple and smaller E-sports grade gaming mouse, then look no further than the BenQ ZOWIE FK2 E-Sports ambidextrous mouse, which is the embodiment of “plug and play”. Due to its smaller sizes, it is great for fingertip users, because it fits them nicely.  Due to its ambidextrous design, it has two thumb buttons on both sides, which can be a bit annoying for those who grip the mouse.

DPI can be changed in four steps: 400, 800, 1600 and 3200. USB report rate has three steps: 125, 500 and 1000. These can be adjusted via small buttons on the bottom of the mouse, which can make it hard to adapt to different situations if you change them often. There are no lights or proprietary software included with the mouse. If you look at it, you cannot say it is indeed a gamer mouse, as it omits all of the flashiness for a minimalist design.

All in all, if you are looking for a minimalist, easy to use and smaller-sized ambidextrous gaming mouse, the ZOWIE FK2 can be good for you.

MOBA and FPS players need to have quick reactions and accurate movement, for which Razer DeathAdder Essentials is the best left-handed gaming mouse. This version is the favorite of left-handed e-sports athletes all over the world, and for good reasons. It is a relatively simple gaming mouse with 6 buttons, out of which 5 are programmable (the exception is the left mouse button).

The ergonomic shape of the DeathAdder caters to the palm grip style, which is often used by players who have to keep grabbing the mouse firmly even in heated battles. Chroma lighting is available too, with its 16.8 million colors. These can be adjusted in the Razer Synapse application, alongside with various profiles and settings, as usual. DPI can be changed from 200 to 3500, and the polling rate is fixed at 1000. The optical sensor can handle up to 200 inches per second, so it is able to stay precise even in heated situations with rapid movement.

Due to its relative simplicity and comfortable shape intended for lefties, DeathAdder’s left-handed variant is a great choice for a mid-range FPS and MOBA mouse.

The Logitech G300 is a fairly cheap ambidextrous gaming mouse which still retains some higher-end features, such as onboard memory for three different profiles, adjustable lighting and DPI settings. It is a perfect first step into the world of gaming mice.

Compared to other similar mice, the G300 is lightweight – both physically and configuration-wise. The Logitech Gaming Suite for this mouse has few features when compared to Razer Synapse, for example, but at least it is not overwhelming for new users. You can change between 250 and 2500 DPI, reprogram the 9 adjustable buttons and change the color of the small light that goes above the rubber side grips on both sides. There are three profiles for settings, and these can be saved directly into the onboard memory, so you can take your mouse anywhere and keep using the same profiles. This feature is usually reserved for high-end mice, thus it is refreshing to see it available on a cheaper device.

If you don’t have large hands, big expectations and big budget, the G300 is your mouse, even more so if this is your first time purchasing a gaming mouse. Due to the simple and easy setup, you can get a good taste of what the higher-end gaming mice are capable of. The only downside of this mouse is that the Logitech Gaming Suite software has to be downloaded separately, as it is not included in the box.
