If you live in North America and you’ve been looking for an excuse to pick up a PlayStation 4, but PS4 hard drive storage limitations and price have been a concern, then you’re in luck. So, that’s a pretty specific category to fall under, but most would agree that 500GB is no longer enough (if it ever was) to accommodate modern games.
Don’t fret; Sony’s got you covered. Over on the official Twitter for PlayStation, Sony announced a new 1TB model for the PS4 Slim. The best part is, it won’t cost you any more than the 500GB model currently does. The console will run you $300 USD, and it’ll be available at some point this month. This could mean a price drop for the 500GB model is on the horizon.
It’s perhaps a little late in the game for Sony to be introducing a 1 TB option to North America. In the UK, the 1TB model has been available since last September. Interestingly, this news comes shortly after Sony patched in support for external hard drives.
Still, it’s a nice middle of the road option for those of us who prefer not to fiddle with such things. However, it’s worth mentioning that, for just a little bit more, the PS4 Pro offers 1TB of storage in addition to a much smoother experience and fudged 4K support.
There’s no firm release date for the 1TB PS4, but it’ll be out this month for sure. So, keep an eye out if you’re looking for an upgrade.
